This lovely pendant is made from upcycled bullets and carries the weight of history.
The artist, Chantha Theoun, lives in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and is the father of two. His father was killed by the Khmer Rouge when he was young. The Khmer Rouge is responsible for killing between 1.5 to 3 million people (up to 25% of the Cambodian population at the time), and some experts believe that these numbers are an underestimation of the genocide. While growing up in an orphanage, Chantha learned the art of making jewelry and is committed to transforming weapons of war into symbols of peace.
In Chantha's words, his goals are: Creating positive change and hope // Building lives and sending Peace and Love // Supporting home based, disadvantaged Artisans and families in Cambodia and around the World // Send help to Angkor bullet jewellery Cambodia // bring smile to the world and our generation // raising awareness about the dangers of undetonated landmine and bombs around Cambodia's farmland.
These pieces nurture hope over war. Seeds for Kindness donates a portion of proceeds to SeaLegacy.
The bullet pendant comes with a 16" black cork cord, with a brass magnetic clasp. (If you prefer a longer size cord, please make a note in your cart before check-out.)
